Holes

Welcome to Term 5

Our topic this term (partly chosen by the children) is... HOLES

We have already gone on a search for as many different holes as we could find and discovered that there are lots and lots of them, both inside and outside. For the next couple of weeks we are concentrating on planting things in holes. We will be investigating which are good holes to plant in. We are also looking at the parts of plants and trying to name different plants.

Our writing will be based around sequencing and instructions.

Our RE is creation and we have already been on a scavenger hunt which was lots of fun. In art we are going to weave (in and out of holes!!).

In maths we are looking at capacity - how much does a hole hold. We are also continuing with our counting, especially being able to count back from a number not just forwards.

Later in the term we will look at other aspects of holes.

We made our shields and hopefully you will be able to see them at parents evening. This week we are beginning the innovation of the story we have been learning. We will be changing the characters and creating our own story maps. FS has now been taught all the sounds. They now need to become secure in using them in their reading and also in writing. Please remember to keep practising them. In Maths we are concentrating on number bonds. FS are exploring bonds within 10 and using the +, - and = signs, while Y1 are extending their knowledge to 20.
